Independent geoscience expertise with a vision beyond projects
One year ago, b-geo LLC was founded in Basel with a clear ambition: to provide rigorous and independent geoscientific expertise in support of a responsible and sustainable use of the subsurface.
This ambition is built on many years of field experience, projects, and exchanges with authorities, utilities, engineering firms, and project developers. The objective was to create a structure capable of going beyond individual mandates—and contributing to a more integrated understanding of the subsurface.
Grounded in practice
Over the past year, b-geo has contributed to a wide range of projects across Switzerland. These include feasibility studies, strategic advisory mandates, technical expert assessments, and support for complex projects.
These experiences confirm a key observation: today’s challenges are often not purely technical—they lie at the interface between disciplines, stakeholders, and system scales.
Thinking beyond projects
Addressing these challenges requires more than isolated expertise. It calls for:
- a strong grounding in field reality
- scientific rigor in analysis
- the ability to integrate projects within a broader system perspective
This combination forms the core of b-geo’s approach.
Towards a better understanding of the subsurface
Beyond advisory activities, this first year has also been dedicated to developing new approaches for 3D subsurface modelling. The goal is to make subsurface data and models more accessible, understandable, and useful for decision-making.
Outlook
This first year confirms both the relevance—and the necessity—of an independent and integrated approach to geosciences.
